Self-directed commodity traders prefer to execute their buy and sell orders via an online futures and options trading platform.  This type of commodity trading account assumes the trader to be sufficiently familiar with the futures markets, and experienced in futures order entry.  Self-directed traders might have access to their commodity broker's trading recommendation and research, but they make their own trading decisions.
